How rewards and odds work

Worldwink sells no random items for real money. Everything below is earned by playing. We publish the odds anyway, from the same data the game servers use (content version 0521bf606cb7). Every random outcome is logged with this version.

Dice

Two fair six-sided dice, rolled on our servers. Your Travel Class multiplies the rewards and the ticket cost by the same amount; it never changes the odds.

Baggage Claim

Each suitcase holds one of these prizes, all equally likely (before your destination's scale and Travel Class): 50 coins, 150 coins, 400 coins (1 in 3 each). Then, drawn separately, a pick has a 10% chance of a First Class upgrade, which multiplies its prize by 10. The Baggage Claim card shows this before you pick. During the tutorial every suitcase holds the same prize and there are no upgrades.

Surprise Detour

One card is drawn from this deck, each equally likely (1 in 6); every card is a gain. Coins are before your destination's scale and Travel Class: 240 coins; 3 tickets; a postcard (Postcard-tile odds); 120 coins + 2 tickets; 60 coins + 4 Travel Miles; 180 coins.

Prank tiles

A Prank tile becomes a Topple (60.00%) or a Coin Swoop (40.00%). A Topple knocks one landmark of your choice over; a Do-Not-Disturb tag stops it and pays 50% of the base prank coins instead. In a Coin Swoop you open 3 of 6 travel trunks; each trunk independently holds 3% of the other traveler's coins (50.00%), 6% of the other traveler's coins (35.00%), 12% of the other traveler's coins (15.00%), up to 10× the prank coins per Travel Class, plus a bonus from us. Paying back someone who pranked you adds 50%. Players are safe from pranks until they finish their first destination, and while you're away for 8+ hours a bot traveler may drop by (50% per 8 hours, at most 2 per return). If you allow notifications, bot travelers visit on a schedule instead: a prank chance about 1½ hours after you leave and again the next morning, and a gift of 2 tickets in between, still at most 2 pranks per return, never at night, never during beginner protection, and each visit is announced as it happens. Bot travelers (Juno, Marlo, Kiki and Otto) are labelled as bots wherever they prank or gift you. On a Prank tile you can pick someone you know (a friend, or someone who pranked you) or tap Random traveler: that flies to a real traveler drawn at random from players who can be pranked, or, when no one is around, to a bot traveler standing in (the button says so). Tickets, postcards and purchases are never taken.

Parcel Planes

During a Parcel Planes window, each roll (outside the tutorial) has a 30% chance to send a plane over your island, with at most 3 in the sky at once. Its parcel holds one of these prizes, all equally likely (coins before your destination's scale; the Travel Class doesn't change them): 120 coins; 200 coins; 350 coins; 2 tickets; 3 tickets; 150 coins + 1 ticket (1 in 6 each). A plane you don't tap lands in your Postbox after 10 minutes, so nothing is lost.

Souvenir Shop

Offers one named postcard you're missing (the lowest rarity first) at a fixed coin price shown before you decide. Nothing in the shop is random.

High season

Landmark prices are set when you arrive at a destination and never change while you stay. From destination 2 on, if the coins you bring (not counting coins you bought since your last arrival) would pay for more than 70% of the destination's landmarks, its prices rise for that stay just enough that your coins cover 70% (rounded up to the next 10%, at most ×2.5). The game tells you on arrival and the build view shows the multiplier. Nothing about it is random.

Postcards

Each postcard's chance on a Postcard tile, per destination page. Duplicates become Travel Miles (1★: 1, 2★: 2, 3★: 4, 4★: 8, 5★: 16), and miles buy any missing postcard you choose (1★: 10, 2★: 20, 3★: 40, 4★: 80, 5★: 150), so a page can always be finished without luck.

Pity rule: after 25 postcards in a row without a new 4★ or 5★ one, the next postcard is a 4★+ you don't have yet from that page (or any missing one if you have them all).

Postcard Series

A bonus set of 9 postcards, separate from the destination pages, changes every 14 days, and every series comes back later in the rotation with your progress kept. Once you have finished your first destination, each postcard from a Postcard tile has a 30% chance to come from the current series (chances inside the series below); otherwise it comes from the page as above. Pity counts page postcards only. Finishing a series pays its reward and unlocks a suitcase skin; you can then collect it a second time for a bigger reward and a rarer skin. After that, its postcards become Travel Miles like duplicates. Series postcards can't be traded, exchanged for miles or made from wild postcards.

Events

Event goals scale with how much you played over the last 7 days (median tickets per day ÷ 150, between 60% and 200%), never with purchases. Stamps on the board show which tiles score for each event; your Travel Class multiplies the points and never changes the dice.

Hotspots

Short events run back to back all day, always in this order (a 465-minute cycle counted from midnight UTC on 1 January 1970, so each one comes round at a different time every day). Each scores one kind of tile, and its prizes pay the moment you reach them. They're nothing random: landing is down to the dice above.
